Jane Shellshear studied piano with Elizabeth Green and Phillip Shovk while undertaking a Bachelor of Music in Performance at Sydney University. She continued her studies in the UK. On returning to Australia, her interest in performance disciplines led to gaining qualification as a teacher of Alexander Technique.
As an extension of that, specific to the field of music performance and teaching, she is training to be the first accredited Andover Educator in Australia. All Andover Educators are musicians first and foremost. They use and teach the innovative and specific technique of Body Mapping to build healthy movement patterns which enhance musical ability and expressiveness. By providing accurate information about the body in movement they aim to increase ease while reducing and eliminating playing-related injury. See Andover Educators for more information.
She is a member of the Australian Society for Performing Arts Healthcare and the Australian Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique.
